Quisi South does not have central AC. The mountain climate is naturally cool — summer nights typically drop into the 60s with low humidity. Every room has a ceiling fan and portable fans are provided in summer.

Heat is provided by baseboard units in every room. Set to your comfort, but turn all 5 thermostats back to 60°F at checkout. Keep furniture, curtains and personal items away from the metal baseboards (they get hot to the touch).

Space heaters are in the closet of each bedroom. Open windows for fresh air — please close them at night and when leaving the house (keeps the bears out!).

Hot Tub

  • Lift the cover before entering; replace after each use
  • Press the red button to power on — use the dial to set temperature
  • Two jet buttons (left + right side) — side knobs control jet flow strength
  • Light button on the control panel
  • May be cold on arrival — allow a few hours to heat fully
  • Check-out: turn temperature back down to 80°F and replace cover

Sauna

  • Shower before use; wear a bathing suit or robe, avoid metal clasps
  • Sit on a towel; start at lower temperature for 10–12 minutes
  • Remain still; exit immediately if you feel uncomfortable or dizzy
  • Cool down, then repeat if desired; no eating, drinking, or smoking inside
  • Consult a doctor before use if you have any health conditions

A full entertainment space with: shuffleboard table, arcade games, retro NES, ring toss, board games, card table, and a wet bar with HDTV — perfect for adult game nights. The bunk room has a slide for the kids, and there's tetherball and cornhole outside.

Both indoor fireplaces are wood burning. Make sure the flue is open before lighting. Dispose of cooled ashes in the metal waste can on the deck. The outdoor fire pit is propane — do not burn wood in it.

Outdoor Blackstone griddle and a wood-fired pizza oven for group cooking. Please clean the grill after use to avoid additional cleaning fees and to avoid attracting bears.

Open year-round — rain, snow, or shine.

Hot Tub

  • Lid: Lift the cover before entering; replace after each use
  • Power: Press the red button to power on — use the dial to set temperature
  • Jets: Two jet buttons (left + right side) — side knobs control jet flow strength
  • Lights: Light button on the control panel
  • Note: May be cold on arrival — allow a few hours to heat fully
  • Check-out: Turn temperature back down to 80°F and replace cover

Take the steps from the driveway down to the screened lower deck game room: ping pong table, dart board (darts in the closet under the stairs — supervise children), foosball table, life-size Connect Four, and a ring game. Cushions for outdoor chairs are stacked on the picnic table; back cushions are in the storage bin behind the outdoor couch. Please return cushions to storage when finished.

The easiest way to impress everyone: buy a DuraFlame log at the Market and light it. Or bring a couple from home. For a real wood fire, use the firewood stacked by the driveway or from the Market. Make sure the flue is open. Clean ashes into the silver bin on the deck at checkout.

Propane fire pit on the lower deck. Fires must be supervised by an adult at all times. Please do not cook s'mores on the fire pit — they're very hard to clean off the decorative glass and rocks. Turn off the gas and close the propane tank after every use.

To Light: Open the left door and twist the valve to turn on propane. Remove the rectangular cover from the top. Locate the control panel behind the right door. Hold down the ignition switch, then turn the dial to ON. Use the dial to control flame height. If it doesn't light, turn off the gas, wait a minute, and try again. In humid conditions, use a stick lighter.

When finished: rotate dial to OFF, turn off the valve at the propane tank, replace the cover. Do not roast anything over this fire — very hard to clean!

Please use the fire table only in its current location — it is not meant to be moved.

The deck features a Blackstone griddle and a pizza oven for outdoor cooking. The Blackstone is perfect for group breakfasts and large meals. Please clean both after use to avoid cleaning fees and to deter wildlife.

Top Restaurants

Some of the best wood-fired pizza anywhere — and Chris & Bianca lived in NYC for 17 years, so that's saying something. Authentic ingredients, scratch-made, cooked in a wood-fired oven. Also serves breakfast pastries and beignets that are genuinely legendary. Right on the mountain — the most convenient great meal you'll find.

<1 mile from both homes · On-mountain at Wintergreen
Pro tip: Grab a pizza then head up the gravel trail beside the restaurant to the overlook with picnic tables. Stunning views.

Escape the ordinary at this one-of-a-kind farmhouse café on Route 151. Belties serves hand-crafted coffee and their legendary 18-layer scratch biscuits alongside sweeping Blue Ridge Mountain views — and their Belted Galloway cows grazing just outside the window. It's an experience as much as a meal.

20 min · Afton, VA · Route 151
Pro tip: Come hungry for breakfast or brunch — the biscuits sell out. Worth every detour.

A well-loved pub in the Stoney Creek Valley — just 15 minutes down the mountain from both homes. Solid craft beers on tap, a full menu of burgers, sandwiches, and mountain comfort food, and the kind of relaxed vibe that's perfect after a day of hiking or skiing.

15 min · Stoney Creek Valley · Nellysford

A Nellysford institution and one of the most beloved BBQ spots in the Blue Ridge. Honest, smoky, delicious — the kind of place where the brisket and pulled pork speak for themselves. Low-key atmosphere, generous portions, and a menu that's been earning regulars for years. Worth every mile down the mountain.

15 min · Nellysford · 2198 Rockfish Valley Hwy

The beloved Italian spot in Nellysford — wood-fired pizza, housemade pasta, and the kind of generous, family-style Italian cooking that makes a group dinner feel like an occasion. Great for families and larger parties. Named for the island of Sicily, the food reflects that heritage: bold flavors, fresh ingredients, and recipes that don't cut corners.

15 min · Nellysford · 2842 Rockfish Valley Hwy

A Wintergreen-area institution — quirky, intimate, and deeply beloved. Part wine shop, part artisan bakery, part café. The menu is small and excellent, built around whatever's fresh and local that week. The bread alone is worth a special trip. One of those rare places that feels like a genuine find.

15 min · Nellysford · 2226 Rockfish Valley Hwy
Pro tip: Reservations strongly recommended on weekends — they fill up fast.

The best Mexican food in the Waynesboro area and a unanimous local favorite. Don Lupe serves the real thing — authentic tacos, tamales, chile rellenos, and margaritas that hit the mark. Casual, affordable, and consistently good. A perfect option when the group wants something different after a long day on the mountain.
